On January 10, 2020, a meeting of the Austrian-Turkmen Society was held in the WAAGNER Biro company building in Vienna, attended by board members and directors of well-known Austrian and European companies.
The board members of the Austrian-Turkmen Society are people of various professions, interests and religions, who share a huge interest in Turkmenistan and its achievements in the field of politics and economics, its history and centuries-old culture.
Over the 11 years of its existence, the general secretary of the Society has been the Austrian conductor Professor Wolfgang Harrer, the founder and leader of the Galkynysh Turkmen-Austrian Symphony Orchestra, who is well known in Turkmenistan as the musical guru of Vienna balls and numerous anniversary and holiday concerts in Ashgabat.
A lot of questions and proposals were on the agenda, among which the central place was given to the projects and events of the past 2019, which were implemented with the support of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. So, the Society noted the 10th anniversary of the Galkynysh Turkmen-Austrian Symphony Orchestra, within the framework of which the 4th Vienna Ball was held in Ashgabat on October 24, and the orchestra concert on October 25.
The importance of the audience with the President of Turkmenistan, of the head of the Austrian-Turkmen Society, Dr. Neda Berger on December 10, 2019 in Ashgabat, cannot be overestimated, it has become a testament to the high appreciation of the Society’s activities in the field of strengthening ties in the field of culture, humanitarian and economic relations between Turkmenistan and Austria over the past 11 years.
The agenda of the meeting also included a discussion of measures for 2020, when the whole of Turkmenistan will widely celebrate the 25th anniversary of permanent neutrality.
So, within the framework of the International Conference on December 11-12, 2020, Ashgabat will also host the 5th Vienna Ball, the performance of the Galkynysh Orchestra and the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Vienna, the performance of the world-famous opera star from Switzerland Veselina Kasarova, international conferences, meetings of the joint Turkmen-Austrian commission, etc.
The issues of the election of the new Board of the Company for the next 4 years were also discussed. One of the topics related to this was the discussion of strengthening the activities of the company and its board by selecting its new members – directors of Austrian companies, members of the Society, who for many years have been actively involved in its activities.
Honorary Advisor to ORIENT, Dr. Neda Berger was again unanimously elected President of the Society, Wolfgang Harrer – the Secretary General. Also, a proposal was unanimously adopted to select new members of the board in the amount of 8 people.
Among other topics discussed are issues of sponsorship of companies to support the activities of the Society and attract new members – Turkmen companies that want to take an active part in the activities of the organization over the next 4 years.
The meeting participants paid great attention to working with the media, which will continue to occupy one of the central places in the activities of the Society. Among them is a site dedicated to Turkmenistan: www.turkmenistan-kultur.at in Russian, German and English, which is read in more than 35 countries of the world, as well as the publication of the Turkmen-Austrian journal Galkynysh in Vienna, four of which have already pleased the public.
Given the approaching date of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and taking into account the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of news exchange between the ORIENT website of Media-Turkmen and the Austrian-Turkmen Society, signed on August 15, 2019, as well as accreditation on September 4, 2019 in Vienna, of Neda Berger as ORIENT correspondent in the press service of the Chancellor of Austria, a proposal was made to create an Advisory Council for the media at the Society with the involvement of the media in Turkmenistan. In addition, the involvement of Austrian media representatives in the work of the Advisory Council is of great importance.
We welcome new board members and wish them every success 2020-2024!
